A student's test scores are one factor used in helping teachers assess knowledge and improve their instruction. The scores are also one of the things college admissions officers look at when deciding on scholarships, student aid, and college placement. Therefore it is important that students do their best to show what they know!

NCRC Student Testing Site

The Iowa Assessments are given once a year in the spring to all students in grades 3-12. They test the students' knowledge of reading, mathematics, and science. For more information, please visit their website.

As an Iowa school district, Danville is required to have a second assessment in reading, mathematics, and science. We give the FastBridge reading assessments to all students in grades K-12 and the FastBridge math assessments to all students in grades K-8. These assessments are given three times per year. The MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) test for math is the second assessment given three times per year to students in grades 9-12. This assessment adapts to a student's learning level and provides a personalized assessment experience. For more information, please visit the MAP website.

The National Career Readiness Certificate exam is given to all seniors in the fall. The results are accepted by employers nationwide as a reliable way to verify students' work skills in three areas: Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information. Depending on their scores, students can earn a Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum certificate to present to their future employers. For more information, visit their website.

This test is given to all eighth graders and some younger students. The student's score is one factor used to determine a student's initial placement in the secondary math curriculum.

This is Danville's choice for the required second assessment in science. It is given to students in eighth and eleventh grade. For more information, please visit this website.

This is a free suite of tests required by community colleges before a student enrolls in classes in order to place students in the appropriate math, science and English courses. The test assesses reading, writing, math, and computer skills. For more information, including suggestions for preparing for the test and sample tests, visit this website.

This assessment measures what you have learned in high school in order to determine your readiness for college. It is recommended that a college-bound student take this test in April or June of their junior year. Registration is required about four weeks before the test date. There is a fee. The ASVAB is an interest inventory as well as an aptitude tests required by the military for anyone who plans to enter the military. It is given at Danville High School in the fall. There is no fee for this test. Visit the ASVAB website and click on Applicants to find out more about this test.

Students in tenth or eleventh grade can take the PSAT to measure readiness for college, access scholarships, and practice for the SAT. Some colleges require the PSAT score. Visit the PSAT website for more information. It is used as a practice test for the SAT and is used to select students seeking for National Merit Scholarships.

The SAT is another college entrance exam required by some four-year colleges. If required by the college you plan to attend, it is recommended that you take the test in April or June of your junior year. There is a fee for this test and you do need to register about a month in advance of the test.
