As we set our sites on a long weekend, I want to take this opportunity to thank all those for a great start to the 2019-2020 school year. A new school year presents many opportunities for various beginnings and this year is no exception. As I look around our site, we are witnessing the foundation of our future with this construction and the changes being made in the education of the students. With everything that is taking place we will be faced with many challenges but I am sure we will meet them and move on. As we approach our first three-day weekend of this year it represents a holiday that was signed into law on June 28, 1894, by President Grover Cleveland at the height of the Industrial Revolution. It is my feelings that this day is for all of us; housewives, farmers, teachers, business owners, law enforcement, firefighters and every single individual that contributes to society. This weekend symbolizes the end of summer for many of us and is celebrated with parties and family get-togethers. You all deserve this time so be safe, have fun, relax and I will see everyone next month! Yours in education and GO BEARS!!!

Attention Danville Male Students and Parents: United States law says men must register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. That means men are required to register with Selective Service sometime during the 30 days before their 18th birthday, on their 18th birthday, and the following 29 days after their 18th birthday – that is a 60-day registration period. Danville male students that are 18 or will be turning 18 during this school year, are encouraged to register with Selective Service to remain eligible for federal student financial aid, state-funded student financial aid, federal employment, state employment, job training under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, security clearances, and U.S. citizenship for immigrant men. Apply online using your social security number at www.sss.gov and click on the "Register" button. It should take about 5 minutes. If you do not have a social security card go to www.sss.gov and click on the "Fillable Registration Card" and follow those instructions. Selective Service accepts early registrations as young as 17 years and 3 months.
