HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS:

 

There will be a quick 5 to 10 min Science Fair Meeting - Tomorrow, February 22, immediately after school! Please Attend!!

 

 

Individual speech team:  get your name on the sign-up sheet for the week.  Mr. Jacobsen will be in his room all week; the more run-throughs the better!  District contest is Saturday.

 

Leo Club will be having a hat day on Friday Feb. 23rd for the Pickering family.

Seniors.  Are you on top of the scholarship application game?  Helpful tips are available at scholarshipmastery.com (or check in with Mrs Roth for details).

 

                      HIGH SCHOOL & JUNIOR HIGH SPORTS:

All softball players grades 7-12 are asked to meet with Coach Fry and Coach Hoelzen, TODAY 21 at 2:40 PM in the High School Choir room for introductions and to discuss the preseason workout schedule. All players who intend to play this summer are required to come to this meeting. If you can't make this meeting please get in touch with Coach Fry.

 High school boys soccer meeting TODAY at 3:00 at the concessions area near the high school gym.  If players are interested in playing but unable to attend they need to be sure they’ve signed up on the signup sheet in the office and should let a teammate who will be in attendance know. 

 HS GIRLS SOCCER MEETING FRIDAY FEBRUARY 23rd at 12:15 in the JH Gym

 

Any JH girl interested in track please sign up in the office.  JH girls' track meeting will be Tuesday, March 6th after school in the HS lobby area.  Practice will begin Monday, March 12th after school for both JH Boys and Girls

 

CAREER CENTER NEWS:

Attention Sophomores and Juniors:  Please bring you parents on Thursday March 1 to a presentation by the Iowa College Access Network.  At 6pm is the Career and College Planning and 7pm is the Understanding Financial Aid (this is geared more towards Juniors).  

 

Presidential and Silver Cord opportunity:  Magical Afternoon Special Olympics Basketball event on March 18 at BHS from 4-6 pm. needs volunteers from noon until 6pm. The Midwest Magic Special Olympics Team will be playing the Burlington Police Department.  This the primary fundraiser to support these athletes not only for basketball, but track and field, bowling, soccer and cheer leading.   This event had over 1200 spectators last year and continues to grow.  Please see Mrs. Alberts for contact information.

 

Juniors/Seniors-Western Illinois University is having Agriculture Open House Friday,  March 23 from 9am-1pm lunch will be provided free of charge. Please see Mrs. Alberts for the link to sign up.

Please sign up outside the Career Center.

Continue to come pick up local scholarships in the Career Center as the hard copies are coming in regularly.

 

Seniors, if you are planning to attend SCC, apply online-it's free and then apply for their scholarships.  The deadline for scholarships is March 1 by 4:30pm. They give out 400 scholarships totaling $300,00 in scholarships each year. Several of our students in the past have received their scholarships. If you need assistance see Mrs. Alberts.
